Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. — Philippians 4:4-6
Anxiety seems to be running rampant in our society today. It not only affects adults, but children are also experiencing stress and anxiety. Whether it is performing at work or performing in school, the pressure is on high. You may ask, “Where can one go to find comfort…to relieve the stress?” I would suggest the Bible. The book of Philippians has always inspired me and chapter 4 has encouraged me along my journey.
You can find comfort in knowing that God gives you instruction for relieving the stress and anxiety that you may be experiencing. He says not to let anything stress you. Instead He encourages you to bring all your concerns to Him. The Father not only wants you to bring your concerns to Him, but He asks you to bring them specifically with thanksgiving. If you believe you receive when you pray (Mark 11:24), then you will already be thankful, knowing you have the answer. The Bible says to trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do you trust Him enough to present your requests to Him?
I believe that as you apply Philippians 4:6 to your life that the pressure and stress you may be experiencing will be relieved. You will experience rejoicing in Him and the fruit of gentleness in your life will be evident to all. Be encouraged today, knowing that God cares about you. He does not want you to be anxious, fretful or stressed. God wants you to walk confidently, trusting in Him. Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say Rejoice!!!
