They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Day 2 of the 28 Day Challenge

Today is Sunday, Super Bowl Sunday and the day started great.  I woke up a earlier than usual and decided I had time to fix waffles, eggs and turkey bacon.  We had a yummy breakfast and then got ready for church.  My husband was dressed in an orange throwback edition #7 John Elway jersey. He doesn’t usually wear a sports jersey to church, but today was Jersey Sunday.  Everyone had the opportunity to sport their favorite team jersey.  It just so happens that this year our home team was playing in the big game. Our pastor prepared an illustrated sermon comparing the game of football to life.  He was actually dressed in a referee uniform and seemed to thoroughly enjoy throwing yellow flags throughout his sermon. People laughed…some cried…while others made decisions to follow Christ. It was a good Sunday.

Some friends invited us to their home to watch the big game!  Our hosts had whipped up some yummy eats and everyone was excited to watch the game. And then the first score…the opposing team with a safety.  Now I am not a huge football fan, but I do enjoy a good game. Time is ticking away and still no score. It’s halftime and everyone is snacking on more eats and talking optimistically about the second half. In the third quarter our team finally scores. A sigh of relief feels the air.  People are thinking it but no one wants to say it… thankfully it wasn’t a shut out!  Unfortunately our home team doesn’t win the big game, but as some would say at least they made it to the big game.  I guess its all in your perspective…

When I reflect over my day, I am thankful for laughter.  I realized that I laughed all day long.  Giggling this morning with my husband, sharing some laughs at church and laughing as I enjoyed fellowship with friends.  Proverbs says that a merry, cheerful heart is good medicine (17:22).  I would say with all the laughing and smiling I did today, I had some pretty good medicine…

Remember a smile can brighten your day…
