I believe we need to educate ourselves on how our bodies function so we can take care of them properly and live in divine health as God created us to. 1 Corinthians 6:19 states, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.” We are not to defile our bodies and that includes what we are putting into them, on them and what we are doing to them. We must remain strong and in health so we accomplish all He has planned for us to accomplish. We have a job to do and we cannot do it being sick, tired, sluggish, burned out and slowly dying!
God’s Word is filled with scripture showing us His stance on living in Divine Health: He has sent His Word to heal us (Psalm 107:20); the Word is life to our body and health to our flesh (Proverbs 4:22); by His stripes we are healed (1 Peter 2:24) and I could go on and on!
So, first He has given His Word for us to feed on so we can allow our faith to increase and grow in the area of health. We must realize that He paid an awesome price for us to live in perfect peace and divine health WHILE ON THIS EARTH. We have been made in His Image. What we need to realize is that even though His Word promises us divine health, He has also given us responsibility in this area. He has laid out principals and ways for us to maintain our health. The Word should always be first and the foundation of everything. Then as you add to that with your obedience in the natural things – His power, His grace, His Love comes on the scene and under girds us in our journey. Don’t fall into the trap that we have no part in taking care of our temples. Even in the Bible, the men of God took care of the physical temple to make sure it was the most beautiful and best and undefiled place for the Spirit of God to dwell. We can accomplish this in our natural bodies – because God’s grace is ever with us.
Make your temple a priority in your life. It’s the only one you have! Glorify God in your body by how you eat, what you say and how you dress. Never let there be any reproach in your life regarding your body. His Grace is sufficient – in all areas of our life. He is there to help us, direct us and lead us. Follow His leading. Follow His Word. Only success can follow when He is leading.
