Live at Peace

Romans 12:17-19
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.  If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.  Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

“As far as it depends on you, live at peace with EVERYONE.”  Have you ever read something and thought for sure you came across it, so that you could share it with someone else?  Well, I remember very distinctly reading this verse and thinking, “I know a few people that need to read this.”  But then I heard on the inside – this verse is for you.  I began to think, “How can I possibly live at peace with EVERYONE, especially those people who do not want to live at peace with me?”

The Father reminded me that this is very possible.  We have such a loving Father.  God would not dare set us up for failure.  He reminded me that I had to get my focus in the right place.  I can only do my part, and that is where the love walk comes in.  I cannot control another’s actions, but I can control my own.  If I am walking in Agape – the God-kind of love, then as far as it depends on me, I will live at peace with everyone.  Being obedient and walking in love has its rewards and those rewards include peace.  I have the ability to set myself up to live in peace.

Peace is a fruit of the Spirit and is listed in Galatians 5:22.  We have the ability to see the fruit of peace manifested in our lives.  It has been planted within us.  When we cultivate the peace planted within us, it will grow and become strong.  Peace helps to undergird our faith.  When we stand in faith, peace is that calm confidence on the inside; no matter how the outward circumstances appear.  Peace provides the ability for us to handle ourselves appropriately, even when life seems unfair.

Are you endeavoring to live at peace with everyone?  Are you focused on walking the love walk?  I hope the answer is YES!  Second John 1:6 reads, “And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.”  The key is choosing to be obedient and submitted to God’s Word.  With Him on your side and as your guide, you are sure to have peace in the midst of chaos and have the ability to live at peace with those in your world.

Remember to be REAL…
