1 John 4:7
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
Day 14 of the 28 Day Challenge
Recently in a Bible study we were talking about the story of God and how each of us uniquely fits into His story. One of the discussion questions was to talk about God’s love for us in the story and answer how His love has changed us. One of the participants said that because God’s love is so great she realized that this week was not really about focusing on what her husband did this Valentine’s Day, but it was more about what she could do for other people, extending God’s love to those around her. She may have missed this in the past, but spending time in God’s presence allowed her to see beyond herself to others that were in need of His love.
My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. – Colossians 2:2-3
Love God, love people…
Vertical relationship with God infuses our horizontal relationship with people.
On Valentine’s Day I can remember my dad would always bring home flowers and candy for my mom and a little heart-shaped box of chocolates for me. This was one of the ways he showed his love. But his family was not the only ones he showed love. My dad was a kind man. Any person who met my dad called him friend. He was always willing to help someone else. I remember those yummy chocolates, but better still I remember the extension of God’s love through my dad.
Challenge yourself to be a conduit of God’s love to those around you. This Valentine’s Day and everyday put your love in action!
