Minister of Hope

Uniquely U

First up in our Uniquely U blog series is Sonja DeBose. I have known Sonja for many years. I had the opportunity to have all three of her kiddos (now young adults) in Children’s Church. Sonja is just beautiful inside and out.  She is a triathlete and has said many times that God speaks to her while she is running…

My name is Sonja DeBose.  I am a Native of Colorado.  I am a wife, a mother of three beautiful children, and a grandmother of one.  I love my family and enjoy spending time with them and when I am not with my family I am serving alongside my husband in church.  I love encouraging others, especially encouraging women in their Christian walk. I am a minister of hope.

Sonja DeBoseI believe that God took me through some dark times in my life and taught me how to persevere.  In doing so I learned that many times when we go through those rough times, we feel like we are alone.  I was fortunate that God put people in my life that encouraged me and helped me to make it through.

Seeing God’s perspective...

Later, when my husband and I started serving in the marriage ministry at our church, I discovered my desire to be that person who brought hope and encouragement to other women.   I know what God had brought my husband and I through and I know that we are better together.  I needed to let other women know that they were not alone.  I wanted to help them see that even though what they were going through seemed like it would never get better, their blessing was just around the corner.  I call that seeing God’s perspective.

Proverbs 3:5-6, tells us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not unto our own understanding, in all our ways acknowledge Him and He will direct our path.  My mission is to encourage and bring hope to others by pointing the way to Jesus.  I help guide others by reminding them to trust in God and His promises.  I help others to see “God’s perspective” in the troubled times.  I receive so much joy and encouragement in my ministry when those that I am helping come back to me and share their testimony; they share how they pressed through because they finally saw hope in their lives.
