Lamentations 3:22-24 (NLT)
The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”
Have you ever found yourself stuck in something which happened yesterday? Maybe you said something you wish you had not said… Maybe your actions were not as loving as you had hoped… Maybe your motives were not as pure as they should have been… We have all missed the mark at some point, but thankfully God’s word let’s us know that His mercies are new every morning. Yes, God loves us so much that everyday He gives us new mercies. His faithful love never ends.
As I was reading in Genesis there were two verses which stood out to me. The first being Genesis 18:14 which begins by asking a question, “Is anything to hard for the Lord?” The Lord asked this question after Sarah had laughed to herself about the promise made regarding the birth of Isaac. The Lord had said to Abraham, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.” I love how the Lord made sure that Sarah heard this promise. Before He spoke the promise to Abraham, He made sure Sarah was around to hear it.
I can imagine Sarah had some reservations because God had already spoken to Abraham about having a son. It had been years prior and she had not yet conceived this promise. She had even come up with a plan to help God with the promise, which caused her unnecessary heartache and pain. Even though Sarah laughed at the timing of the promise, it did not stop God from fulfilling the promise which was spoken. Sure enough although it seemed a long way passed the time that would have been possible, Isaac was conceived and birthed in God’s perfect timing. Is there something God has promised you and you are still waiting for the manifestation? If God promised it, hold on to your faith and know that in His perfect timing it will be manifested.
The second verse which stood out to me was Genesis 19:16, “When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them.” Here we find the scene where the angels are endeavoring to hurry Lot and his family out of the city before it is destroyed. Perhaps in a moment of feeling overwhelmed Lot hesitates, but because of God’s mercy extended toward him the angels grasp the hands of Lot and his family and lead them safely out of the city. God is gracious, it was the coming of the dawn, a new day which meant there were mercies afresh for Lot.
Father, thank You for your mercy and loving-kindness toward Your children. May You encourage each of us today as we receive Your mercy fresh and new. Help us to leave the past in the past, to be fully present in each moment and to move forward toward our destiny. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Today remember and take comfort in the truth that God’s mercies are fresh and new for you each day.
Remember to be REAL…
