I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
Have you ever watched the movie entitled Last Holiday (2006 version)? In this movie the main character has a book of possibilities. The book includes pictures of the lifestyle she is dreaming of… people, places and things. The character is portrayed as a keep-it-safe type of person. You know the kind of person that won’t really step out to do what is in her heart because of fear. Well, the character is misdiagnosed with a terminal illness and told she only has weeks to live. Her whole perspective changes and she decides to really live life while she can. It is interesting that it takes something so drastic for her to make a change in her life
A new season brings an opportunity to open the door to new possibilities. The key is a willingness to make a change. If you want change in your life, you have to be willing to make the necessary adjustments to experience that change. Many times we are hindered in making adjustments due to the hurts and disappointments of the past. We have built up scar tissue and our hearts have become hardened. We have truly stopped living life and just begun existing in life. I do not believe that just existing is a place that people really want to live. However, many people are experiencing that place every day.
The good news is that you don’t have to stay in a place of just existing. God truly wants to do something new in your life. He will remove the scars of the past and refresh you, so that your heart is open to new possibilities. Do not let the experiences in life hold you captive. Instead allow the experiences in life to continually catapult you forward. If you are in a place where your heart has been scarred with disappointment, hurt or rejection, allow God to give you a new heart. Allow Him to refresh your spirit. Today, make the decision to begin experiencing all the good that has been stored up for you.
