Places, spaces and graces

puzzleActs 17:26
From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.

Have you ever taken a look back over your life so far and thought about the places… the place where you were born… the places you spent your childhood years… the place you have landed as an adult…  How have these places had an effect on who you have become?

Places, Spaces and Graces…

I was born in Kansas but raised in Colorado.  My parents moved to Colorado when I was only 2 1/2 years old.  They did not know anyone in Colorado, they just had a sense that this is where they should move.  When I was 10 my parents decided to move to Texas.  Although I was sad to leave my friends, I was also excited about new adventures.  We had family in Texas and I had visited often.  However, it wasn’t meant to be.  My parents sent me back right away to stay with a friend until they could get moved back to Colorado.

Have you ever wished you were born in a different time?  Growing up sometimes I would think just maybe I should have been born in an earlier era because I liked the music or the style of dance from that space of time.  But  as I would hear and read about the advancements of modern conveniences, I was thankful for the space of time in which I had been born.

I believe that there is grace for the place and space in which we find ourselves.  God determines our habitations (places) and our appointed times (spaces).  Looking back, I believe that it was meant for me to live and grow up in Colorado.  Everything that I have experienced in life so far, I believe has woven into God’s amazing plan.  The good, the bad and the ugly [excuse me, that’s a Clint Eastwood movie].  The good and not so good of life has shaped who I am and prepared me for the next portion of my journey.

Sometimes you may question your place or even your space.  It may be a time of intense pressure, stretching or even a place of isolation.  You may feel broken beyond repair.  But be encouraged because God gives you the grace (the ability) to handle the place and space right where you are.  My prayer is that you trust the God who knows all and sees all; the God who can protect you, provide for you and give you peace even when you find yourself in the middle…the place and space where you are not where you were, but not quite where you are going to be…His grace is there and it is sufficient for you!

Remember to be REAL…
