Pray with Joy

Philippians 1:3-6
Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.  Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now.  And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Joy:  feelings of great happiness or pleasure, especially of an elevated or spiritual kind.  When we pray for others, we should make it a joy filled time.  Joy enlivens prayer and makes it fruitful.  We should be excited, knowing that our Father hears and answers prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father,
I ask that You would encourage and strengthen those reading this prayer.  Your Word tells us that the joy of the Lord is our strength. We know that apart from You we can do nothing, that includes praying effectively.  So Father, we purpose to hide ourselves in You. As we pray for our loved ones, our friends, those in authority and even our enemies, may we pray for them with joy.  In Jesus Name, Amen.

Remember to be REAL…

    1. Thanks Kari! You are such an inspiration and so dear to my heart. I'm thankful for God's strength and peace in your life. Bless you, my friend!

  1. Good thoughts here LaShorne. Sometimes we come to prayer so burdened and with such heavy hearts. And of course sometimes that is necessay. But do we have to stay there in our prayer, or leave prayer still heavy hearted? No, we can pray with joy. And as we love and obey Jesus, He can turn our sorrowing into rejoicing. Thanks! -Richard

    1. Richard, thank you so much for reminding us that when we pray there should be an expecation, so we can pray with joy and leave prayer rejoicing.

  2. Thanks so much for reminding me that the "Joy of the Lord" is truly my strenght. Continue to share the Word of God as He gives you direction!!!

  3. This verse was a favorite of one of my closest high school buddies.
I know it because of her.
I believe it because of Jesus.
I'm reminded of it today because of you.
    Thank you!

Have you read the book Sacred Pathways by Gary Thomas? I think you might enjoy reading his thoughts about enthusiasts.
