Day 24 of the 28 Day Challenge
My parents always encouraged reading as I was growing up and I really liked to read. I had my own little library in my bedroom. My mom signed me up for a book club which allowed books to be added to my collection on a regular basis. My mom would also find great used books. I am grateful that I was exposed to reading at an early age and that I enjoyed reading. My parents believed that reading helped a person learn, grow and be successful.
The Bible tells us that the person who finds wisdom is blessed (empowered do succeed). Most people want to be successful in all areas of life. They want to be successful in their relationships and with their finances. People even want to successfully live healthy lives. Wisdom can be defined as good sense demonstrated in a person’s way of thinking, judgment or action. I like to think of wisdom as the right knowledge applied in a given situation.
To be teachable is the ability and willingness to learn which also means that you are willing to be corrected. There are many places in Scripture where it mentions the folly of those who dislike or disregard correction. I certainly do not want to live out my days in foolishness. I am grateful that I have the ability to continue learning. My desire is to remain teachable so that I will continue to grow in God’s wisdom.
You may no longer be in a traditional classroom but that does not keep you from learning and growing. Do you consider yourself to be teachable?
