Resting…

restPsalm 62:5
Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.

What is going on right now… in this moment… in this time… this space… this place where you find yourself?  What is the condition of your soul… your mind, will and emotions? Do you feel strong and confident or weak and timid? Are your thoughts good or filled with apprehension? What about your emotions? Do you feel like you are on a roller coaster or standing firm on steady ground?

As of late I have crossed paths with many people who just seem as if they are losing steam or already tuckered out. A person who is weary lacks strength, energy or freshness because of lack of sleep or rest.

What is rest…

Rest is a bodily state characterized by minimal functional and metabolic activities; freedom from activity or labor; a state of motionlessness or inactivity; free from anxiety; or peace of mind. Rest is a delightful place to be… Jesus even said in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Why is it that so many are not experiencing rest? Notice that rest is free from anxiety and peace of mind.  Anxiety and worry wears on a person. It does not matter how strong you are or claim to be, after awhile anxiety and worry will weigh heavy on a person. You and I were not built to carry worry and stress. We have a heavenly Father who loves us and wants to carry the heavy load.

Rest brings refreshment…

The Bible instructs us to be anxious for nothing… Guess what? Nothing means NO THING… When we worry, we are actually missing the mark that God has for us. In other words, we sin. The good news is Acts 3:19 says, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” Did you catch that? Times of refreshing… We do not have to worry about anything.  We can turn to God in prayer, releasing all our cares to Him.

God wants you to enter into His rest… However, you can only do that by faith. You have to believe and trust that God has you covered and with Him all things are possible. He has the wisdom you need. Today choose to wait on the Lord. Allow Him to strengthen you, refresh you and give you rest

I am praying for you…
