Strength from Him

Philippians 4:13 (NLT)
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Usually, when I reflect on this widely quoted verse, my mind tends to think of The Invincible… too strong or skillful to ever be defeated

Faster than a fiery dart.
More powerful than any stronghold.
Able to leap all obstacles in a single bound.
Look! Up in the sky!

It’s a bird. It’s a plane.
Its Super Christian!

Fortunately, we know that in the end we win the war… it is the everyday battles in which we need His strength.  Recently, I have found myself experiencing some anxiety.  The definition of anxiety:  nervousness or agitation, often about something that is going to happen; a subject or concern that causes worry; the strong wish to do something, especially if the wish is unnecessarily or unhealthily strong.

Now I know that the Father’s instructions are:  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  His instructions also include:  Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.  Yikes!  What to do with all this anxiety, I have presented my requests to God.  Then I am reminded of this:  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

From epi and rhipto; to throw upon (literally or figuratively) — cast upon

Then it dawns on me, I do not have to be Super Christian, I just have to trust in the Lord and His promise to me:  Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.  In reading Wesley’s Notes on the Bible, he says, “I can do all things – Even fulfill all the will of God.”

God’s will for me is to live in peace (NOT anxiety) – trusting Him in every situation and circumstance.  For all things I have strength, in Christ’s strengthening me.   Be encouraged…He has strength to sustain you…

Remember to be REAL…
