Day 28 of the 28 Day Challenge
Today I was reminded that we must be strong and courageous where our love walk is concerned. I mean we must on purpose choose not to violate the commandment of love. No matter what the situation or circumstance, our goal should be to remain in the love of God.
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. – 1 John 4:11
Did you know that love does not get offended? And love is not touchy, fretful or resentful. Love is patient and kind. Love forgives! Everyday we have an opportunity to keep the love commandment. The Bible instructs us to love God and to love others. We are to love our neighbors. We are to love our enemies. We are to love our brothers and sisters in Christ. There is not anyone who is left out of the equation of love.
The love commandment, although simple, takes courage and strength to fulfill. Why? Because naturally we focus on self and we want things to go our way all the time. When we focus on self, then life becomes about what happens to me. Why does the checkout clerk have to take so long talking to the person in front of me? Why did he speak to me that way? Why was I not chosen for that assignment? The list can go on and on… opportunities to become offended.
It takes strength and courage to practice patience and kindness. It takes strength and courage to forgive others. It takes strength and courage to keep no record of wrongdoing. It takes strength and courage to choose love rather than choosing offense or hatred.
The good news is that we are all capable of choosing love. God says do not be afraid and do not be discouraged because I am with you wherever you go. God sees all, knows all and He is with you. So when you choose love in every situation and with each person you come in contact with, then you are truly being strong and courageous.
