Take the first step

2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV)
For we walk by faith and not by sight.

Do you believe God…

Do you trust God…

Do you have faith in God…

If your answer is yes, then it is time for you to take the first step.

Sometimes the first step can seem the hardest to take because, after all, it is the first step. You may not know what to expect. You may have never gone in this direction before. You may not have the support you think you should. You may lack experience or education or resources. Notice what is really at work here. It is fear. Fear is the opposite of faith or an enemy of faith. Fear will have you moving in the opposite direction, away from the destination God has for you.

FEAR is:
False – Evidence – Appearing – Real

It’s time to be like Peter and say, “Lord if this is You… Your idea… Your instruction… Your plan for my life, then command me to come.”

When Peter stepped out of the boat, he walked on Jesus’ word, “Come.” Peter’s faith was not in the possibility of walking on the water, his faith was in the spoken word of Jesus, “Come.”

Faith comes by hearing the word, the spoken (rhema) word of God. Faith isĀ  an unwavering confidence. Faith is trusting and believing in the unseen. Peter trusted in Jesus and had faith in the word Jesus spoke, “Come.” As long as Peter was focused on the word which had been spoken, he had the ability to walk on the water. Once Peter received the faith command, he took the first step… Peter got out of the boat…

I can imagine that Peter was comfortable in the boat. After all he was a fisherman and had spent countless hours in the boat. Peter may have been reminded of the security the boat provided as a means of income for his family through his fishing business. There was probably an overall sense of familiarity about the boat for which Peter had grown accustomed. However, Peter laid aside all that felt or seemed comfortable, secure and familiar… Peter took the first step and got out of the boat.

What word has God spoken to you? What word is God speaking to you?

It is time for you to take the first step… it is time to get out of your boat…

Remember to be REAL…
